I'm pleased by the collection of features it's gained over the years, though I do have to be careful. FocusWriter is a distraction-free word processor specifically designed to help creative writers put their ideas to paper (or screen). The biggest surprise for me was simply learning what worked and what didn't for writers. I've always striven to maintain simplicity with FocusWriter, but in the beginning I mistook simplicity for a complete lack of features. How has FocusWriter evolved over the years? Has it developed in any unexpected ways? The program autosaves your progress, and reloads the last files you had open to make it easy to jump back in during your next writing session, and has many. Every major design decision has been based on her real-life needs and experiences, and that's really where FocusWriter gets its focus. Someplace where she could go to immerse herself in her imaginary worlds. I don't remember exactly when and how the idea was sparked, but I set out to create a writing environment for her that would be fast, simple, and comfortable to use. The ones that she had available to her at the time were all either bloated, overcomplicated, or buggy – plus, she was struggling with distraction issues. My wife was frustrated with the word processing options for Linux. What prompted you to create FocusWriter, and what were your main aims in doing so? yWriter6 helps you write a book by organising chapters, scenes. FocusWriter – lean, clean and (if you set yourself particularly tough targets) potentially mean Free writing software designed by the author of the Hal Spacejock and Hal Junior series.
